akemashite omedeto gozaimasu (just woundered if i could say that to congratulate the starting of this beautifull site)..
once a good teacher tought me just to learn how to read the kanji, she said don`t waste your time with the meaning and the various combination…..i didn`t take it seriously …i was still excited about those little, yet complicated pieces of art..so i was trying to learn everysingle kanji, what it means and from where it is derived and even trying to know the meaning of each part of it and how they got togather to form a meaningfull structure…i though if i do so i can conclude the meaning and it will like looking in the PC screen and seeing 01010101011100…..
well guess what!!!!! she was right……it DOESN`T work that way …
by the hundred kanji i was dying….
later , and just by focusing on the reading of the kanji i did in a month 10 times the number of kanjis than what i did with “look into the matrix” way, which -to be honest- might still be better way, maybe for a japanese language specialized person… but if u r like me living in japan and dreaming of the day that you can read your bills or any paper reachs your post, i recommend (as i have been told befor) to just go on with learning the reading of it, and you will not (as i didnt before) listen to the adivce.
and still…after three years…i am living in plataform where i can`t enjoy the gift of reading. walking around ignoring everything that`s is written…
i wish i can break this wall…….but untill the day when they will stop using kanji….seems that i have to climb the wall..almost in the middle..
what i really want and hope to find , a book for reading that matches my kanji level…why don`t they make such a thing (for the sake of reading) a book with a kanji level matching controller (KLMC).
i have a dream that one day before living japan i hit a street light pole while walking just because i was busy reading some sign or something…
peace.

Lou!
Seriously dude - why don’t you just start reading online with Perapera-kun or Rikai-chan. I am sure that you can pretty easily find the sorts of things that interest you (knees, football, カポエラ). And it is FREEEEEEEE!
